To create a Tai Dam village and display our culture, many projects have been tentatively planned. Some may need sizeable funding; others only volunteer labor. Some can be realized in the near future; others may be deferred for some time. Accomplishment of the projects will depend on funding and the efforts of the Tai community and supporting friends. The following list is our dream.
Village Entrance In ancient times, each village or city had a solid gate that could be opened to admit visitors, or closed to keep out intruders. Such a gate at this village would have cultural significance as well as practical use. Tai Cultural Palace A 20,000 square foot palace-like structure, suitable for cultural and social events such as New Year celebrations, weddings, cultural gatherings, and educational conferences. Tai Cultural Center A real model of Tai village architecture, including a museum, library, and gift shops. It will provide office space, guest rooms, and a gathering space with cooking facilities for meetings and classes. Residential Houses To represent our Tai culture, a dozen Tai families may build typical Tai style houses in the southern part of the property, and reside in them. Other Displays Tai water mills around the pond and along the creek, suspended bridges, a rice paddy with real water buffalo, Asian livestock roaming here and there, traditional gardens with Asian vegetables and flowers, ponds of water lilies, teahouses, huts, and other Asian features will add accents to the Village. |
